Over their lifetime, compared to products that do not meet EPEAT criteria, the 129,219 EPEAT registered electronics purchased by Kaiser Permanente in 2016 will result in environmental impact reductions including:

  • Reduce use of primary materials by 19,193 metric tons, equivalent to the weight of 525 tractor-trailer 18-wheelers
  • Avoid the disposal of 124 metric tons of hazardous waste, equal to the weight of  1,009 refrigerators
  • Eliminate the equivalent of 355 U.S. households’ solid waste for a year—664 metric tons
  • Avoidance of 85.4 metric tons of water pollutant emissions

Energy-Related Savings

  • Savings of 54.2 million kWh of electricity—enough to power 4,244 U.S. homes for a year
  • Reduction of 9,193 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions— equivalent to taking  6,609 average U.S. passenger cars off the road for a year
  • $5,594,492 in lifetime cost savings
