Welcome purchasers!

EPEAT® is now the easiest way to specify affordable,
high-performance, environmentally preferable electronics. As of January
2010, over 40 manufacturers have registered more than 1300 products in 40
countries worldwide. EPEAT is a requirement for all US
federal purchasers and is used by government, education, health
care and enterprise purchasers worldwide in more than US $65 billion worth
of procurements.
The specific resources at right, and the model specification language below
should help get you started using EPEAT.
If you would like to talk with someone directly about the best way to
incorporate EPEAT into the purchasing process, please

Purchasing Partner Recognition When you use EPEAT, be sure to get the
recognition you deserve by joining our
Purchasing Partner program. To find outlets for EPEAT registered
products, visit our
Reseller Partner pages.
NOTE to purchasers on the internationalization of EPEAT®
EPEAT now permits product registration by country in 41 individual countries.
Products are verified to meet all declared criteria on a country by country
basis. This means purchasers need to ask for products registered in the
geography where they will be purchased, to ensure they are accessing the
product as declared in the registry.
Under current fee structure, manufacturers
pay a single fee to register in all covered countries outside the US/Canada
region, so purchasers should require such local registration to ensure
accountability and verification oversight in their specific geography. When you
establish EPEAT purchasing in any of the 41 covered countries, MAKE SURE you
are requiring, and obtaining, products registered in the country where you are
purchasing.
If you are purchasing in a country not yet on the registry,
consider pursuing Country Addition to ensure your region will be covered in
future. In the interim, you can ask suppliers’ about EPEAT registration
elsewhere, but remain mindful that service criteria may not be met and that
there will be no verification in your country until it becomes part of the
covered geographies.

Federal Government Purchasing Resources
| The
Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) require that federal "agencies
must ensure that they meet at least 95% of their annual acquisition requirement
for electronic products with Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool
(EPEAT)-registered electronic products, unless there is no EPEAT standard for
such products." |
Federal Purchasing Resources
The Federal Electronics Challenge
The Federal Electronics Challenge (FEC) has prepared a number of resources for
federal purchasers, including an
EPEAT fact sheet that explains how EPEAT can help federal agencies meet
their FEC obligations. The FEC is a voluntary partnership program that
encourages federal facilities and agencies to:
Purchase greener electronic products.
Reduce impacts of electronic products during use.
Manage obsolete electronics in an environmentally safe way.
The FEC website
has many valuable electronics resources for federal purchasers.
