EPEAT®
is built around the participation and contribution of stakeholders of all
kinds. Our open, stakeholder-consensus based model rests on the assumption that
every stakeholder group has a wealth of insights to bring to the table,
and that pooling this knowledge enables the development of highly
effective standards that can move markets toward environmentally
preferable product design and management.
The
contribution of hundreds of stakeholders from all sectors has made EPEAT
the most effective environmental standard for electronics – as evidenced
by the numbers of products registered, the number of purchasers and
manufacturers using the system, and the results in terms of measurable
environmental benefit.
Please
consider participating in one or many of the available opportunities in
the EPEAT system:
Standards
Development
Our standards are developed through
IEEE stakeholder workgroups. Standards discussions are underway for
Imaging Equipment and Televisions. A workgroup will begin to update
the IEEE 1680.1 computer standard early in 2010. Server and mobile device
workgroup processes are expected to start in 2010 as well. These groups
are open to all interested parties, by application to the IEEE. Contact
us
for more information.
Register
Products
If
your company brands products covered by EPEAT (currently notebooks,
desktops, thin clients, workstations and displays) and your products are
sold in one or more countries with an EPEAT registry, then you may
participate in EPEAT as a "subscriber" and register your conforming
products. Click here for step
by step instructions and more.
Purchaser
Engagement
We support purchasers through a wide array of materials – model contract
and policy language, fact sheets, and our Purchasing
Partner program,
which offers recognition and support for Purchasers who make an EPEAT
purchasing commitment. Enterprise
Purchasers
can access a suite of EPEAT services through a membership program designed
to facilitate and assess their EPEAT purchasing and its beneficial
environmental impacts.
Reseller
Partner Program
We work closely through our EPEAT Reseller Partner program to disseminate
information about the EPEAT system and EPEAT registered products to
purchasers and help them comply with regulatory or policy
imperatives.
Distributor
Partner Program
We collaborate with Distributor Partners to provide information, training
and support to their Channel Partners on using EPEAT to assist end users
in greening their IT operations.
EPEAT
Board of Advisors
Our Board of Advisors is a multi-stakeholder advisory group that helps
staff develop strategy and policy for the overall operation of EPEAT. All
BofA meetings are open to public participation. Members are nominated by
their stakeholder groups for three year terms on the B of
A.
Nominate
new countries to EPEAT
EPEAT
currently registers products in 40 countries worldwide. The system is open
to addition of new countries where EPEAT can help encourage sale of
environmentally preferable products. See our Country Addition pages for
more detail.
We
encourage you to participate in any, or many, or these activities. For
more information, see web pages linked to the titles above, or

us
to learn more or explore your options.
