EPEAT Registration Instructions
In order to register products in EPEAT please follow these steps:
-
Buy a copy of IEEE 1680 from IEEE at
http://shop.ieee.org/ieeestore/search.aspx. Search for 1680. EPEAT is
based on this standard. Note the “Verification Requirements” for each
criterion. Understand that you should be prepared to provide the information
identified for all registered products.
-
Download the Excel spreadsheet assessment tool to help you evaluate whether
specific products meet EPEAT requirements, and at what level (Gold, Silver,
Bronze).
-
Download the EPEAT Subscriber and License Agreement and Subscriber Set-up Form
and the EPEAT Fee Schedule. All manufacturers that want to register products in
EPEAT must sign and return the Agreement and Form.
Click here to email inquiries or to submit signed agreements and forms.
-
Get a corporate officer of your company to sign the Agreement and send it to
EPEAT. Also complete the “Subscriber Set-up Form” and send it in with the
Agreement.
-
Pay the EPEAT annual fee as identified in the EPEAT 2007-2008 Fee Schedule via
check or EFT. The fee allows the company to register an unlimited number of
products.
-
When EPEAT receives the Agreement, the Set-up form, and the payment from your
company, we will send the person identified in the Set-up form as your company
EPEAT Administrator an email that will include a user name and password to log
into the EPEAT registry application.
-
Your company EPEAT Administrator can then log into the product registry and
set-up your company (including setting up additional company administrators and
users, if they choose).
-
Some of the criteria of IEEE 1680 relate to company-wide programs rather than
product-specific criteria. These criteria are declared by the manufacturer once
per year for all products in an “Annual Report.” Several of these “Annual
Report Criteria” are required criteria in IEEE 1680, so a company Administrator
must answer a few questions on-line in order to declare any/all of the
company’s products to those criteria. No products will appear on the registry
until that company’s Annual Report Criteria are declared.
-
Any administrator or user can then register individual products. This consists
of declaring Yes/No for each criteria of IEEE 1680 for that product (although a
few criteria require the user to declare a specific value).
-
In order to ensure that the new subscriber seems to be using the registry
effectively and appropriately EPEAT completes a “desk review” of the first
registrations entered by each subscriber before those products appear on the
registry. This “desk review” is expected to be completed in a few days for each
product, during which time the EPEAT staff will contact the subscriber if they
have any questions. After the initial products pass the desk review they will
appear on the registry. After a number of products pass desk review with no
issues the desk review process is removed for that subscriber. Thereafter,
products registered by that subscriber will appear on the registry immediately.
EPEAT can re-institute desk review for any subscriber if warranted.
-
EPEAT is responsible for verifying that all units of all registered products
meet the criteria as registered. All subscribers should be prepared to submit
to EPEAT the information identified as “Verification Requirements” for each
criterion of IEEE 1680 for each registered product within 30 days of EPEAT’s
request.
