        EPEAT International Registry
Since launching EPEAT in 2006, we have been overwhelmed by the positive response from large purchasers, manufacturers and consumers across every sector of the global marketplace.

With the international registry expansion, EPEAT now makes it easy for purchasers in 40 countries around the world to choose green electronics that cut costs, green IT environments and help lead the transition to a prosperous, low-carbon economy.

IT purchasers in the US, Canada, Europe, China, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and Mexico can now evaluate, compare and select products that are available to them locally, based on the products’ environmental performance in their country.

Click on the links below for more information on specific topics, and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions.

Please Note – New countries will be added to the EPEAT registry through a formal Country Addition process currently (2009) in its pilot phase. Please see Country Addition section for more information on the process, how to nominate a country or comment on a proposed addition.

EPEAT Country Addition

In order to ensure that those who wish to use the EPEAT system to green their electronics purchasing can do so, EPEAT’s stakeholder Board of Advisors has approved in principle a process for new country additions to EPEAT’s registry coverage.

The draft country addition process will enable purchasers, manufacturers or other stakeholders to nominate countries for addition to the registry, providing some basic information to support that nomination. The Board of Advisors will then regularly review country addition proposals at their quarterly meetings, and approve those that they feel are substantially supported by evidence of purchaser and supplier interest, government support or other factors.

The bias will be in favor of country addition where demonstrable interest is shown; however the BofA may condition their approvals based on strategic considerations such as verification capacity, available resources, etc.

The draft process is a work in progress, and is being tested in Fall 2009 to work out its details. We expect that the Board of Advisors will revise this draft and approve a final process in December 2009 following pilot implementation with a small number of countries.

Once a given country is approved, its addition to the registry will be announced publicly and posted on this page. At that time, subscribers will have 60 days to register products in the country before its registry column goes public
