Sustainable Schools Collaborative – EPEAT’s newest Champion

The Sustainable Schools Collaborative (SSC) works closely with school staff and stakeholders to help K-12 schools and districts educate for and practice economic, social and environmental sustainability. The Oregon chapter of SSC, Sustainable Oregon Schools Initiative, administers the US Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools recognition program in the state of Oregon. The program recognizes schools that save energy, reduce costs, feature environmentally sustainable learning spaces, protect health, foster wellness, and offer environmental education to boost academic achievement and community engagement. Procurement of EPEAT-registered electronics is one of the Green Schools objectives, allowing schools with EPEAT-purchasing policies to gain points toward the award. EPEAT is working with SSC to give those schools extra recognition and support through the EPEAT Purchasing Partner program.
