EPEAT Welcomes New Advisors and Staff

The EPEAT Board of Directors approved three new members of the Advisory Council this month:

Thad Carlson, Senior Manager of Environmental Sustainability at Best Buy has been involved with EPEAT for a number of years in an advisory capacity. Thad’s combined background in sustainability and marketing in consumer retail provide a unique and informative perspective on EPEAT’s outreach strategies.

Melissa Franolich, Senior Manager, Sustainability for LG Electronics, joins as an OEM representative, bringing long experience with sustainability, carbon and CSR initiatives as well as a legal background to the table. LG is a long-time, high volume EPEAT participant and we are delighted to have them represented on the Council.

Jake Swenson, Director of Sustainable Products and Services for Staples, Inc. brings a product-focused sustainability perspective to the Advisory Council from his work driving environmental value to the consumer communication level for Staples. We’re very happy to have Jake’s perspective on consumer research and outreach added to the conversation.

The organization has also recently added several staff members:

Pamela Brody Heine, EPEAT’s Director of Standards Development Projects has long been involved in facilitation of stakeholder processes for EPEAT. Pamela will serve as EPEAT’s lead for designing and managing standard development processes and special projects.

Christina Brown, Quality Management Systems Specialist,  is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining EPEAT’s Business Management System in accordance with ISO Guide 65, conducting surveillance audits of the EPEAT registry and acting as a resource on process development and improvement.

As Program Support Specialist, Andrea Desimone assists both the Director of Outreach and Communications and the Director of Standards and Training to develop Partner outreach and training-related materials, strategies and programs. Andrea joins EPEAT with eight years of communications, marketing and training development experience.
